Here what other teachers have to say about KMAC:
I have been working with Harry Kent and the incredible staff at The Kent Mountain Adventure Center for eighteen years. There is simply no professional organization in the outdoor industry that I trust more to provide both my staff and my students the adventure experience of their lives while providing deep safety in all dimensions. Their commitment to hold to the highest standards in both technical expertise and the human dimension of working with youth and the people who serve them is second to none. I personally come away, on each occasion, with new and intensely practical information, a larger view of who I am and a clearer sense of who I can become. This kind of consistency only comes through the depth of experience that one rarely finds in the industry today but will assuredly find through each and every KMAC experience.

My school, Colorado Academy, has been working with KMAC for over fifteen years. Colorado Academy has a long history of mountaineering activities including the initiation of the Colorado Outward Bound programs. KMAC has fit in nicely with our outdoor education program. They have done rock climbing, ice climbing, backpacking, canyoneering, map and compass work, and ropes courses with us. Every teacher from our school who has every worked with KMAC has marveled at the highly talented guides and the knowledge that they brought to our students. Besides showing complete knowledge of the skills, all guides handled themselves in a very ethical and professional way. Safety was always a main concern. Well over 500 of our students in grades 6 through 12 have come into contact with KMAC. The experience for the students was always a very personal and rewarding one. I highly recommend KMAC to anyone who wants to enjoy the outdoors in a very adventurous, yet safe way.

West Middle School and Team Quest
Kent Mountain Adventures provides the sixth grade students at West Middle School in Cherry Creek School District with Team Quest, a unique start to the school year. In early September each of the four sixth grade teams of 100+ students spends an entire day with Harry and his crew learning how cooperation, responsibility, and curiosity can combine to promote thinking, problem solving, sharing, and bonding within small groups of 10-12 students. The low rope activities, including the spider web, the “toxic waste field”, and the “magic carpet” encourage kids to communicate with each other while challenging themselves on an individual basis. One student commented, “I tried to lead and listened when other people had an idea. Our team was very good at doing challenges that way.” Another student shared her personal challenge, saying “What challenged me during Team Quest was being the smallest; for example, I had to hang on the rope the most because I was the smallest.” Teachers also feel the benefits of Team Quest throughout the school year; it becomes a reference point in their classrooms for processing difficulties and successes. “A real strength of this program is the having students improve their problem solving skills,” states one teacher. “Responsibility was placed on the students to overcome interpersonal problems, and the course instructors provided helpful questions to debrief the experience.” All in all, KMAC’s Team Quest presentations are an excellent orientation for our sixth grade students new to middle school.

Working with KMAC has been one of the most reliable parts of our freshman class trip every year. With minimal time and effort on my part, I can count on two days of rock climbing activities which are challenging, entertaining, and safe. Their staff is well qualified to work with students of different ages to teach them proper climbing and belay techniques as well as proper outdoor etiquette. Having been a climber for nearly twenty years myself, I trust their expertise and experience. I have used their week-long trips for winterim programs and the kids really love it. Their appreciation for climbing and the outdoors grew tremendously. My favorite part of the trips is seeing their confidence grow as they realize that the impossible can become possible.
