Expedition Itinerary

Dates:                            August 31 through September 3,   2010

Location:                        Roosevelt National Forest (Ironclads) near Estes Park, CO

                                        2 miles south of the town of Allenspark.  Trailhead:  Bunce

                                        School Road.

Day 1 (August 31)

Depart CHVE at 7:30 am.  Drive approximately two hours to the trailhead area.  Divide down into patrols.  Discuss safety outline and goals.  Begin packing.  Lunch will be at trail head.  Thorough map and compass lesson.  Begin hiking into base camp area.  Arrive in base camp late afternoon.  Shelter building and no trace camping instruction.  Dinner and evening gathering.

Day 2 (September 1)

Breakfast and morning ritual.  One half of group has Rock climbing instruction all day.  Other half science and ecology study all day.  Hike to  airplane crash site.

Day 3 (September 2)

Morning ritual and breakfast.   Groups switch from previous days activities. 

Day 4 (September 3)

Morning ritual and breakfast.  Break down and clean base camp area.  Journal and solo time with letters to self.  Lunch in the back country.  Map and compass back to van.  De-gear equipment.  Final group meeting.  Depart trail head at 1:00pm.  Arrive back at CHVE at 3:00pm.
