Fifth Grade Backpacking Trip

 

 

What:          Four day backpacking course into Roosevelt National Forest includes hiking, rock                     climbing, wilderness living techniques, and environmental science and ecology

                    study.

 

When:          August 27 through August 30, 2012

 

Kent Mountain Adventure Center and Judy Bogart would like to invite the fifth graders on the seventeenth Annual Backpacking Trip into Roosevelt National Forest.

 

This will be a four day course where groups will hike into a "base camp" area from which daily activities will be conducted.  Skills to be taught include "no trace camping", map and compass, rock climbing and rappelling, shelter building, cooking, science and environmental study.  Leadership, group and individual responsibility will also be a focus.

Cost:               $400 includes everything except personal clothing and sleeping bag.  All                                      backpacking equipment, food, tents, and transportation are provided.
